Templates

  • A budget-friendly way to make the art go further would be to use one piece of illustration (motion or otherwise) that would be used on multiple images.
  • For example, one motion graphic used on three separate photos would equal three different social media posts.

Process Video

  • Many bands and musicians also use the “Artwork Process” video I make to promote their work

From Musician to Cinematographer

Many of us find a big part of our identity in our creative work and sometimes that label changes over time.

In this episode, Krist talks with Jordan Beard about studying music in college and then finding a career in another creative field. Follow Jordan’s journey as we talk about how he became a freelance cinematographer. See Jordan’s work here: https://harmonic-films.com

Social Media Concepts for Musicians & Bands: Part 2

The goal is to create engaging posts that push for your followers to interact with them (and you.)

Looping Videos

  • Morphing or transitional motion graphics.
  • This could be album art, lyrics, or some things like that.
  • Examples:

Story Series

  • A video of a band member telling the story of a song (the meaning and/or how the music came together and/or how it has affected you)
  • This could include some graphics/words over the video.
    • This could also work for your Band Story, maybe even broken into multiple parts.
  • Visually it could be a mixture of all of the above in a longer format.

Music Video

  • A music video that could be totally or partially animated.
  • A simple “lyric video” is a good and budget-friendly way to promote a song without shooting an entire video.
  • Example:

Dealing with Impostor Syndrome

In our last conversation, we talked about the “what” of Imposter Syndrome, and this episode we’re talking about the “how” of it. The Impostor experience is a real thing. It’s a “fancy” way to say we have persistent self-doubt and don’t feel like we belong.

Recognizing the problem and having support from others are two big steps in dealing with Imposter Syndrome. But what does that look like for each of us?

The goal is to create engaging posts that push for your followers to interact with them (and you.) Also keep in mind that you want your followers to want to share it too. You don’t just want to make sales — You want to provide relevant content to your followers.

Member Intros

  • A photo of each band member with some illustrated elements around them – or a completely illustrated image. These could be video (a “still” pic but with jittery lines)
  • The post would include an intro of band members, etc.
  • Example:

Band Story

  • Same as above but with the Story of the band and what your plans/goals are.

Live Shots

  • Same as above but with live/performance photos.
  • This could include handwritten/drawn lyrics and/or related graphic elements.

What is Impostor Syndrome?

Do you find yourself doubting your abilities and accomplishments? Do you have a persistent, internal fear of being exposed as a fraud? Do you?! Welcome to the club! Imposter Syndrome aka Impostor Phenomenon aka Impostorism aka Fraud Syndrome aka the Impostor Experience aka I’m a Big Tricky Dummy is a real thing and many of us are plagued by it on a daily basis.

Also, did you know “impostor” can also be spelled “imposter” and spellcheck won’t do a gosh darn thing about it? Listen as Krist and Katie chat about it.
